The Ursa Major Arc
The MDW Sky Survey helped to confirm the discovery of a massive, 30-degree-long arc of nebulosity near the North Celestrial Pole by University of Wisconsin astronomers.
This structure is estimated to be about 600 light-years away and is thought to be the shockwave from an ancient stellar explosion, possibly a supernova, occurring roughly 100,000 years ago.
